Deborah Zelie began her training with Seacoast Ballet Company, UNH Dance Company, and under scholarship at both Ballet Theatre Workshop under John Prinz and Mihailo Djuric, and Ballet New England under David Drummond. She was asked to join both Ballet Austin and Ballet Magnificat’s traineeship program after spending the summer with them. After performing the title role in Ballet New England’s Sleeping Beauty, Deborah was asked to join their professional company. She also joined and toured with the Boston Dance Company dancing soloist and principal roles, and currently as a principal dancer at Northeastern Ballet Theatre under Edra Toth. She has performed a wide variety of lead roles including Paquita, Carmina Burana, Pas de Quatres, Les Corsaire, and was featured as Wilhelmina in NBT’s Dracula and as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker for many New England companies. She has also been a guest artist with a variety of companies, most recently with Northern Ballet Theater, Melrose Youth Ballet for The Nutcracker and Portland Ballet for Giselle. She has taught all ages and levels of ballet, pointe, creative dance, variations, and strengthening class at Ballet New England and Northeastern Ballet Theatre.
