Creative Movement
(45 minutes) For ages 3-4 who like to move. Children will learn basic
coordination exercises, ballet movement, and social skills for the dance
classroom. Creativity is encouraged! Children must have a good attention
span and be out of diapers. Sorry, we do not accept students under 3 years.

Pre-Ballet/Tap
This is a 1 hour introductory 1/2 ballet and 1/2 tap class for 5 to 6
year olds. Basic Ballet and Tap technique is taught while allowing children
to have fun and enjoy moving.
Tap Funk n Hip Hop
This is a 1 hour 1/2 Tap Funk and 1/2 Hip Hop class for ages 7-9. This
class is taught as a beginner level Tap and introduction to Hip Hop. Students
are still moving slow to ensure correct technique is being implemented
while students work on stretching, across the floor combinations and short
group dances in Hip Hop.
Ballet I through IV
This is a class where students will focus on vocabulary, technique, stretching,
barre, body placement, across the floor, turns, leaps and more. Ballet
is the foundation to all dance and is highly encouraged as a foundation
to any classes taken.
Tap
Tap focuses on musical phrasing and the complexity of rhythms with less
emphasis on the visual part and more on the challenge of "making
melodies" with the feet. Most often, tap is danced to jazz based
music such as Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Funk and Latin styles. Good examples
of famous tap dancers, past and present, are Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell,
Gregory Hines and Savion Glover.
Lyrical
Maintains the percussive, rhythmic characteristics that define Jazz, but
it incorporates elements of Ballet, and sometimes even Modern Dance to
give it a smooth, lengthened look and lyrical quality usually danced to
ballads.
Jazz
Jazz dance develops strong, proper body alignment and strength needed
to improve turning technique and to jump more efficiently while learning
flashy combinations. This class will increase a student's vocabulary by
introducing a variety of across the floor progressions of turns, kicks,
jumps and more in each class. Advanced level Jazz Classes in our studio
has more of a commercial and contemporary jazz style combining technique
with a stronger emphasis on performance level.
Theatre Dance
Threatre Dance is geared toward the experienced dancer that strives to
become a better performer and requires that you have a solid understanding
of beginner level dance skills. This class offers fun eye-catching combinations
for the student who wants to explore the world of dance in the theatre.
Theatre Dance is another form of stylized Jazz focusing on theatre performance
with style and pizzazz. Lot's of Fun!
Modern
In our studio can be abstract or lyrical. Exploring Horton/Limon along
with Graham and Humphy techniques, modern is a dramatic and more poetic
way of moving which evolved as dancers found the need to break away from
the rigidity of Classical Ballet and express themselves using a freer
style. Modern Dance is characterized by its bending of the spine into
spirals and contractions as well as the use of off-center movement such
as tilts, layouts, and fall and recover technique. It lends itself to
various types of music including alternative and New Age, and is traditionally
danced barefoot.
Video Jazz Funk
Video Jazz Funk is only offered to dancers ages 10 and up. The words imply"funky",
and uses movements that are in nature while maintaining its integrity
as a technical dance form. Video also incorporates some urban and Hip
Hop moves into its style giving it the contemporary "music video"
look. The hard hitting style combines clean line Hip Hop Jazz with a lot
of sensuality learning not only the dance moves, but how to sell them!
Students should be able to be versatile in class and must have a strong
jazz background as well as Hip Hop to perform in class, therefore the
beginner to intermediate level students are required to take a technique
class such as Jazz or Ballet to attend.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is offered to ages 10 and up seen primarily on TV during rap and
R & B music videos and usually catches the eye of the more "recreational"
dancer. It is a form that evolved out of street and brake dancing moves,
and is characterized by its vigorous athletics and bouncy style. Hip Hop
is danced primarily to Rap and R & B music, and is a great workout
that enhances creativity while dancing cutting edge choreography.
Strength n Stretch
A class in which we pin point, isolate and stretch and strengthen each
individual muscle used to perform as a dancer at your highest potential:
From feet to ankles, calves, knees, hamstring, quadriceps, hip and trunk,
lower-middle-upper back and neck. You will learn excersizes and gain information
to keep you at peak performance by toning and gaining flexibility.
Turns and Leaps
This class will increase a student's vocabulary by introducing a variety
of turns and leaps and the methods and mechanics to stronger dancing.
This class will work on correct alignment and strength needed to improve
turning technique and to leap more efficiently. Students should have a
foundation in ballet or jazz (Intermediate Level: 1-2 years experience
and Intermediate/Advanced 3-5 yrs).
